The Institute Organized a Discussion on “Student-centered” Education

In order to implement the Undergraduate Course Teaching Qualified Evaluation Corrective Plan of Qiqihar Institute of Engineering, deepen the reform of education , and promote the reform of applied undergraduate course, the institute set out the discussion notice on implementation of “student-centered” education and made a detailed arrangement for all the staff to carry out the discussion on February, 29.

The guiding ideology of the discussion is that all the staff must combine the institute education reform practice to make teaching introspection and study the basic theory deeply with questions, assignments and the desire of innovation learning to widen teachers’ sight, identify gaps, raise awareness and explore the applied talents training mode with Chinese characteristics.

A series of articles and related materials of Research on Student-centered Undergraduate Teaching Reform in the United States written by Dr. Zhao Juming were recommended in the discussion. The study and discussion time is the whole semester.

From February 29 to April 15, teachers studied by themselves. The focus is to learn and understand the basic theory of “New Three Centers” that is “students’ development centered, students’ learning centered and learning effect centered” theory and the practice of American education reform. Group discussion will be held from April 15 to April 30. The departments or the joint study groups shall organize internal discussion based on the actual situation of the institute so as to deeply understand and master knowledge in the discussion. The office of educational administration will be in charge of the discussion of each department, and the discussion of other sectors will be organized by the teacher development center. Before May 20, each group will report the learning results based on the study and discussion and focus on integrating the theory into the actual situation of the institute to propose the teaching improvement plan.

According to the “two levels of examination and two assessments” of the institute, the results of this study will be included in the important indicators of teachers’ promotion, evaluation and department assessment.
